I have an interest in trading, but I’m just out of school, and starting my career so I don’t really have a lot of discretionary income to throw around. But I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of money and how it works in different parts of the world, so I guess you could say that the currency market has always held a weird interest for me. But there’s studying currency and the way the market works, and there’s having enough money to actually trade on something like FOREX, and for me, the gap between the two was huge.

I have a weird love/hate relationship with learning. I think learning is important, but I find I have a lot of trouble sticking to anything unless I’m really invested in the stakes. A classroom doesn’t do much for me, but learning how to fix a car because it’s my car, and I want it to work well? Now it means something. It was the same thing with money. I wanted to learn how to make money, but I also realized that doing it the hard way could put me in a hole I could never dig my way out of if I made too many expensive mistakes. I needed a middle ground.

But I learned. And once I learned, I started making smart trades. I’m still learning even now, but I’m making more educated trades than dumb mistakes now, and I’m really happy about that.

You don’t really have much choice in where you’re born, and depending on the circumstances, you may not have many options for moving on. I always felt a little trapped being born in Australia.
